Ode to T.S. Geisel
or The Doc and I
By Batsheva 1/2/10
They say I sound like Dr. Seuss
It's true
And I make no excuse
For the doc is a hero
To girls and to boys
Who'd choose his great books
O'er the finest of toys
His stories are made
Into movies and plays
And continue to be so
Long after his days
On earth have all passed
Though he's gone
His words last
And his works have great meaning
Each and every one
He proved rhyme can be
Both important and fun
Yes, he was a success
And I'm not being funny
When I say that he made
A whole mountain of money
So please call me Seussian
Say my work's lame
It just might mean that I am
Headed for fame
Say that my poetry's weak
I won't cry
We'll have the last laugh
The good doctor
And I.
