Could you have a pet butterfly
That comes whene'er you beck?
Or take a star down from the sky
And wear it 'round your neck?
Could you lasso a rainbow
Make it glow above your home
And then make sure it follows you
Wherever you may roam?
Can you grasp a piece of coal
Squeeze in tightly in your hand--
Turn it into polished diamonds
Just like good ol' Superman?
I know they're all impossible
These things that I describe
No one on Earth could do them
Even for the biggest bribe,
But of these things, I'll tell you,
In the sun or snow or rain
None is more impossible
Than to completely explain
How one plus one can equal one
Instead of equaling two
And that in rain or snow or sun
How deeply I love you.
