Day 75: Get it Done!

I have no idea how this came to me, but the chorus just popped into my head with melody intact, all one piece, and the verses took less than an hour to finish. It took me a while to figure out that the melody is actually, "She'll be Coming Round the Mountain." I really think this should be the anthem for humanity. It can apply to everything from Healthcare Reform to writing a term paper to cleaning the bathroom. To writing a poem sometimes. :-)

Get it Done
By Batsheva 2/14/10

Chorus

Get it done now
Baby, get it done!
Though I know
The job may not be any fun
If there's a task
That you must do
Then it's best
To plow right through
Get it done now,
Baby, get it done!

To do the things
That we enjoy
Is never tough
It's when something
Is unpleasant
Things get rough
But don't choose
Procrastination
That just lacks
Imagination
Get it done now!
Baby, get it done!

Chorus

If you are inclined
To put things off
I think that you may find
Some folks will scoff
For while it's better late
Than never
No one wants to wait
Forever
Get it done now
Baby, get it done!
I know sometimes a job
Is very hard
And you'd really rather
Play out in the yard
Though the work may
Make you queasy
A delay
Won't make it easy
Get it done now
Baby, get it done!

Chorus

{Then slowly}

Oh, there's so much satisfaction
In completing any action
So, get it done now!
Baby, get it done!
