Day 88: Purim Poem

Purim Poem
By Batsheva 2/28/10

Jews from Israel to Durham
(That's in North Carolina)
Have a festive time on Purim
Because tell me, what is finer

Than wearing crazy costumes
And sharing yummy treats
And reading the Megillah
While screaming from our seats

When a certain name is mentioned
Of that evil, evil guy
Who tried to wipe the Jews out
But didn't count on Mordechai

And his lovely, brave Hadassah
Known as Esther--we have seen--
Who risked her life to save us
After she became the Queen

So if you like adventure stories
Then, I'll tell you, you are liable
To find the greatest ones of all
When looking in the Bible

Well now it's time to celebrate
And give a joyous cheer
For we've arrived at Purim's date
The happiest time of year!
