Day 146: (Delayed) Free Thinking (Youth Version)

Our Internet access has been mostly down for the last couple of days. My husband spent some time on the phone with our service providers, and it seems to be working okay now. I was also out of the house for much of the last couple of days dealing with shemirah for a member of my community. I actually wrote this poem yesterday. Just had no way to post it. Today, I came up with a more mature version of the same poem, which I will be posting as today's poem.

Free Thinking (Youth Version)
By Batsheva 4/26/10

The human mind
Is so inclined
To dream and wonder
Seek and find
That if you put it
In a cage
It will respond
In pain and rage

And if it still
Is not set free
It shrinks itself
Reluctantly
And makes itself
So very small
To fit within
Its prison walls

So if you don't
Want to become
Small-minded
Sad
And rather dumb
Then always let
Your mind be free
For that's the way
It's meant to be
