The stories deep inside you
Are the ones that must be told
They do not last forever
If unwritten
They grow cold

We need to write our stories
To let our children know
Who they are
And where they came from
And to see how they can grow

Then in the far-off future
Our stories they'll still tell
So we'll live on
Even as
They write their own
As well
