Praying Mantis

A praying mantis strolled
Across my window yesterday
And it really got me thinking
Why does the mantis pray?
Is it praying for peace?
That our troubles will cease?
Is it praying for money?
Now, that would be funny!
No, I think the mantis
Might decide
To pray about
Some pesticide
But in truth
I really have to say
Praying mantis only
Looks that way
'Cause tell me
Don't you think it would be odd
If an insect like the mantis
Talked to God?
